Leftovers

The most remarkable thing about my mother is that for thirty years she served the family nothing but leftovers. The original meal has never been found.   Calvin Trillin (1935 – )

I think this applies to not only mothers but also all those women who survived the adversity of the great depression, or were taught to cook by someone who did.  My mum Barbara and my other mum Ruth both knew the craft of leftovers.
