I took my mother out for lunch today. It was one of those fortuitous things –
- I had a couple of days leave,
- she became stranded in Brisbane,
- the Capri had a full tank of petrol,
- the weather was great
- it was almost mothers day
So we headed off down the motorway, hair all asunder, towards Loganhome Piazza to find a spot to eat. My treat, Mums choice – and she felt like prawns. We strolled around in the sun checking out the menus and settled on Hogs Breath Cafe. There was a great shaded seat outside overlooking the fountain and our first big effort was to order cocktails.
The menu had too many choices and after a bit of discussion we decided to go all out and get the Seafood Tower. Share platters or towers agre only any good if you are dining with someone who eats the same foods you like and today was the perfect day for this treat. The Tower comes with lemon myrtle salmon, tempura battered barramundi, prawn twisters, garlic prawns, calamari rings, loads of famous Hog Tail Fries, house salad, lemon wedges, plus a choice of 2 dressings – we chose Tartare and a Honey mustard dressing.
Lucky we were at Hogs Breath because we made little piggies of ourselves and gobbled it all up (except a bit of lettuce and a couple of fries). Once again, Hogs Breath did a great job. Then it was back to the capri for some fresh air on the way home. Might need matching Nanna-naps now.
